Wardrobe of a Fashion Intern - The First Day

Blouse - Topshop // Skirt - River Island //  Hoody- Topshop // Jacket - Thrifted // Necklace - Topshop
The first day of an internship is always the hardest to dress for. What's the office vibe? Will I be running around a lot? Is this super cute top actually hideous to spectators eyes? Is this outfit too boring?
A never ending jungle of questions. Ultimately - does it even matter? Probably not. Do we still care? Definitely yes. First impressions are crucial. And this is what I wore. Here are my reasonings:

The shoes should be flat, as interns tend to be sent out into the big wide city to run daily errands. I went with just plain black ballet pumps. Heels would be a crucial first mistake. If you really want to wear heels to look professional, bag some flats.
The top I went with is a simple, slightly sheer blouse from Topshop. Not quite a shirt, not exactly a graphic tee. Somewhere inbetween. The skirt gives the outfit a bit of colour so I don't look totally boring and washed out.

The watch is plain and classic (a Casio from American Apparal, whereas I opted for a chunky statment necklace - on trend and shows I have a bit of fun with my dress sense too. I kept my eye makeup light, but went with a bold lip. (Mac's Lickable.)

Usually I would opt for a blazer, but I already knew the office I was going to was super chilled and laid back for style so I went with my fleather jacket and a Topshop hoodie underneath as Scottish weather is so unpredictable, yet frequently freezing. It was however sunny, so I went with the bigger the better mantra and picked up my H&M sunnies. (The last picture was taken on arriving home at 8pm, can you tell the difference?! Looking much more run down!)

What would you guys wear to a first day at work?
