The Dress of Unrequited Love

Disclaimer: I'm wearing colour in this post don't be alarmed though I'm fine.

So I bought this dress from Miss Selfridge - the campaign model looked like a majestic unicorn in the photos wearing this. Unfortunately I was less majestic unicorn, more shrink-wrapped sausage roll but I did my best to look majestic in these photos so it was worth sharing.

In all honesty, I'm not 100% sold that this dress suits my body shape. I'm quite petite on the top half ( a nice way of saying I have no shoulders and Year 9 tits), and then suddenly you hit my hips and thighs and it all becomes a lot less Kendall and a ton more Kylie. And not in a good way.

This dress wouldn't have fit me at the chest and back if I had gone up a size, but it fit a little too snuggly around my midriff and thigh area for me to feel like a majestic unicorn. I'd say I felt a little more like a majestic horse, but that's okay too.

I actually bought the dress for a wedding in October, so the plan is to shed some weight before then. (Such a typical girl, we all know this won't happen.) I wanted to try dressing it down with some trainers and a leather jacket for daytime wear, but some pervy old guy still started shouting at me on my lunch-break, calling me a princess and Cinderella. So I guess if he said it, it must be true. I'm a f*cking princess.

This is me twirling to illustrate how floaty and magical this dress looks. You can see the sheer delight on my face, clearly. I do like the loose cold-shoulder silhouette of the dress, I haven't embraced the cold-shoulder trend apart from this single dress, but I feel like it's a good place to start.

This is my work wifey Amber, who shares my affinity for pretty dresses. Hers is from Miss Selfridge too. Unfortunately she doesn't have a blog for me to link to, but she should because she's a phenomenal dresser and always looks fab.

To conclude, this dress is an unrequited love affair. I love it, it doesn't seem to love me quite as much, but we're making it work.
